REVIEW: The Devil's Pawn by Elizabeth Finn

The Devil's PawnThe Devil's Pawn by Elizabeth Finn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I really have no words for this book...

I...

Yeah. Generally, her books are pretty good. But this one was just... disturbing? I don't know what word to use!

//

When the lead male character all but rapes her at the beginning to "rid her of that pesky virginity" so that she can then become basically a prostitute.... I almost called it quits right then. And then when he proceeded to not let her find 'satisfaction' shall we say? - WTF?

//

On top of everything, he supposedly loves her so very much, but he allows another man to 'purchase her services' and then WATCHES WHILE SHE SERVICES SAID MAN!!!

//

I just... OMG! I can't...

UGH!

REVIEW: Elite by Rachel Van Dyken

Elite (Eagle Elite #1)Elite by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

OK... so when I started the book out, I felt:

//

To say that I was NOT HAPPY with various behaviors would be an understatment!

How I felt about The Elect *said with sarcastic finger quotes*:

//

How I felt about Trace?

BUCK THE FUCK UP, GIRL! GET A FUCKING BACKBONE!!! *stomps off in feminine dissatisfaction*

However!! - (there's usually always a however), my opinion is changing... but I'm now so:

//

So... that's where I am at right now. Lets see what happens next. I have about 45% or so left to go.

~*~*~*~ UPDATE: Finished ~*~*~*~

OK... WOW. (0.0)

Have you ever read a book and you KNOW you're supposed to be all:

But all you can really muster up, since you figured that it was going to be either this or one other scenario, is this:

You know that there are scenes that are expected to be read like:

You, however, read them with all the excitement of:

THE CHARACTERS

Tracey: (Lead Female)

Nixon: (Lead Male)

Everyone Else:

//

Overall Thoughts?

This story had a lot of potential that I don't think it lived up to. Prime example, without going into spoilers, there comes a time/scene when Tracey should have been all:

Instead, she went all:

I mean.. c'mon! Give what her family history ended up being?? - Grow some 'nads, chica! Jesus!

And then there's a situation between her and the lead male, Nixon. When she SHOULD have been all:

//

But instead went all:

//

How I felt about it all as a whole:

Overall, lots of a potential lack of living up to it. It's not an awful read by any means, but it could be so much more, I feel!

REVIEW: Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover

Point of Retreat (Slammed, #2)Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

JUNE 12, 2013

I LOVE this book so far! The dynamics that Will and Lake have created is just beautiful. They are so in love and so happy!!

Which is why I'm PISSED at Lake right now!!

Stop being such a stupid bitch!!

And skank ho, you need to just GTFO!

I'll finish reviewing once I'm done with the book and I've had some Valium and a drink. ;-)

~*~*~*~ UPDATE: Finished Book 06/13/13 ~*~*~*~

I had many moments where I wanted to:

...

Where Lake was concerned, I spent most of the book going:

...

And Will... Whoa! DUDE!?? What the hell? You didn't do anything wrong! Why are you putting yourself through this?! I just wanna:

What Lake's mother did was incredibly wise and incredibly sweet.

...

While I think his groveling was unnecessary, because HE DID NOTHING WRONG, Will's effort at the end to win Lake back had me all:

And while I think there were just WAY too many insecurities and completely bullshit bitchiness on her part (view spoiler)[ reading the two of them working it out:

...

(hide spoiler)]

All said and done... I was put through the ringer and I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK!! GO! READ!! NOW!!!

Just finished the book... and it was just so damn SWEET!! :-)

There were parts of it where I was just thinking to myself:

I love the ending... It just made me go all, "Awwwww...".

And I determined that for them:

Should you read this book? Yes! Would an older age group enjoy it? I think so... it reminded me of when I was in middle school/high school. I think it applies to any time period! VERY good book! :-)
